Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and maintain production data processing pipelines for infrared imagery from raw frames through calibrated and orthorectified products.
  • Improve pipeline performance through profiling, parallelization, and removal of fixed overhead in the critical path.
  • Implement and operate workflow orchestration for continuous automated processing across multiple satellites.
  • Build monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Work with remote sensing scientists to turn algorithms and prototypes into tested, maintainable production code.
  • Contribute to code reviews, testing practices, and technical documentation.
  • Diagnose and resolve data quality and processing failures by tracing issues through the pipeline to their source.
  • Learn remote sensing measurement techniques, geospatial data engineering, and customer-domain implications as needed.

  • Ability to work with data at a scale where naive approaches are insufficient.
  • Ability to collaborate with a distributed, interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and data support staff.
  • Willingness to learn remote sensing and customer-domain science well enough to assess output correctness.
  • Preferred experience with geospatial data tooling and formats including XArray, COG, GeoTIFF, NetCDF, GDAL, or Zarr.
  • Preferred experience with workflow orchestration systems such as Flyte or Airflow.
  • Preferred experience with performance profiling and optimization of data-intensive systems.
