Responsibilities

  • Own software delivery tasks including code development, testing, deployment, release, configuration, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and refactor existing code to improve quality.
  • Build, integrate, automate, operate, and run application services and software components.
  • Drive code, design, process, and service-integration discussions focused on customer journeys and experience.
  • Develop an understanding of end-to-end technical architecture and dependent systems.
  • Drive adoption of technology standards and frameworks and review coding, testing, and automation work.
  • Mentor and guide new and less-experienced team members.
  • Identify process improvements, reduce waste, and share reusable patterns, libraries, and practices across the Guild or Program.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated programming ability in object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, and 12-factor practices, with Java preferred.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts, automation pipelines, virtualization, and containerization.
  • Exposure to Apache Kafka and the Apache Flink stream-processing platform.
  • Familiarity with secure coding standards such as OWASP, CWE, and SEI CERT, as well as vulnerability management.
  • Preferred experience with infrastructure as code and cloud-first software development.
  • Knowledge of test-driven development and behavior-driven development.
  • Understanding of design patterns including factory, adapter, singleton, composite, observer, strategy, and inversion of control.
  • Ability to write automation code in languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Bash, Perl, and Groovy.

Benefits

  • Competitive base pay of $111,000-$160,000 CAD for the Vancouver, Canada location.
  • May be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program.
