Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the self-hosted platform architecture across backend services, data pipelines, control logic, and customer deployment topology.
- Design and improve high-availability and resilience capabilities including clustering, replication, failover, consensus, leader election, and graceful degradation.
- Define scalability, capacity-planning, performance, observability, and operational-excellence strategies for constrained and air-gapped environments.
- Translate SaaS and cloud-native capabilities into robust on-premises architectures and establish coding patterns and standards across teams.
- Lead medium-to-large cross-team initiatives, influence the engineering roadmap, mentor staff and senior engineers, and review complex technical designs.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Approximately 8+ years of related software engineering experience.
- Deep hands-on expertise in Go and/or Python and experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, Docker, and Linux.
- Extensive experience designing and delivering on-premises, self-hosted, or customer-deployed software, including appliance/OVA packaging, lifecycle management, upgrades, bare-metal or containerized deployments, and restricted networks.
- Proven experience architecting distributed systems for high availability and fault tolerance, including replication, clustering, failover, and consensus or leader election.
- Strong understanding of scalability and performance, including horizontal and vertical scaling, sharding or partitioning, load balancing, capacity planning, and technology and cost trade-offs.
- Experience converting complex or vaguely specified requirements into end-to-end designs, influencing roadmaps, leading multi-team designs, mentoring engineers, and communicating effectively.
- Experience with security products is strongly advantageous.
