Base Salary
$170k - $253k/yr
Responsibilities
- Serve as technical lead or primary design owner for projects or components, driving them from design through delivery.
- Design and build complex production software systems with ownership of technical correctness, performance, and maintainability.
- Author design documents and RFCs, participate in design reviews, and review complex designs and pull requests.
- Translate product and technical requirements into system designs and communicate technical trade-offs across teams.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to the team’s technical quality bar.
- Identify and help resolve technical debt, scalability limits, reliability gaps, and other technical risks.
- Promote best practices in system design, testing, observability, and operational excellence.
- Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and patterns and propose adoption when valuable.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including exposure to large-scale distributed systems.
- Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead or primary design owner for a project or team-level initiative.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Working knowledge of agentic engineering using local and/or frontier models.
- Exposure to distributed storage systems and experience with data processing, analytics, or AI/ML systems.
- Strong system design skills and experience owning the architecture of a component or service.
- Ability to build consensus and communicate technical trade-offs with team members and adjacent teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to author design documents and present technical trade-offs.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical quality standards.
- Familiarity with CI/CD infrastructure for production deployments.
- Preferred: experience with distributed database systems, training and deploying AI models, and GPU workloads or accelerated-computing infrastructure.
