Responsibilities
- Solve scaling bottlenecks in logging, metrics, traces, and alerting pipelines.
- Design and evolve APIs for product engineering teams and identify developer pain points.
- Improve observability platform reliability by addressing bottlenecks and single points of failure.
- Drive features and products from ideation through implementation and adoption.
- Contribute to planning and refinement while improving engineering alignment, quality, and simplicity.
- Respond to alerts, support engineers, and troubleshoot production issues.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working with highly distributed systems.
- Expertise designing and implementing APIs and high-throughput, real-time data ingestion pipelines.
- Experience improving availability, performance, latency, efficiency, capacity, SLOs, and incident management.
- Proficiency developing and maintaining software in Go and/or Java.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Solid understanding of system design and architectural tradeoffs.
- Track record of leading and delivering projects and features end to end.
- Preferred experience operating observability data stores and tools such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, VictoriaLogs, ClickHouse, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana Tempo, Grafana LGTM, OpenTelemetry, and Alertmanager.
- Experience with highly available or fault-tolerant replicated storage systems and large-scale data processing systems is preferred.
- Contributions to open-source observability projects are preferred.
