Responsibilities
- Analyze Linux-based C/C++ services to identify security vulnerabilities and stability risks.
- Remediate vulnerabilities and apply secure coding practices across critical production services.
- Upgrade legacy components and dependencies while maintaining system stability.
- Support re-platforming activities as NewsEdge functionality moves to compliant, modern infrastructure.
- Coordinate dependencies and changes with application and platform teams.
- Test and validate remediation work to prevent regressions.
- Use GenAI coding tools to accelerate upgrade and remediation work.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on C/C++ development experience in Linux environments.
- Ability to navigate unfamiliar, underdocumented legacy codebases and reason about code written by others.
- Experience identifying, triaging, and resolving security vulnerabilities in production systems.
- Experience with dependency and component upgrades in complex, tightly coupled systems.
- Ability to work effectively with GenAI coding tools; Claude is used by the client, but other tools are acceptable.
- Strong, methodical debugging skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Experience with stabilization and re-platforming efforts in live production environments.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and common vulnerability classes, including memory safety issues, injection, and buffer overflows.
- Strong communication skills, including documenting findings, explaining risks, and flagging blockers early.
