Responsibilities
- Own and evolve asynchronous data services that synchronize data across Box systems and data stores.
- Improve existing services’ reliability, scalability, observability, performance, and architecture.
- Design and implement services and platform improvements for growing data volumes and evolving requirements.
- Ensure data consistency and reliability across data stores and downstream systems.
- Identify opportunities to simplify and consolidate existing services and improve the data platform.
- Collaborate with Core Data and other Box teams on data requirements, dependencies, and technical challenges.
- Operate production services, troubleshoot issues, and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Contribute to the technical direction of the Data Foundations platform.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- Familiarity with Scala or Java, MySQL, Pub/Sub, and BigQuery.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and code design principles.
- Strong grasp of high-scale distributed systems.
- Interest in database scale and performance challenges.
- Strong ownership, persistence, drive, and communication skills.
