Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship Chainguard Containers features and services from initial design through production and early customer use.
- Own project scope, sequencing, trade-offs, and delivery decisions while working directly with Product Managers and customers.
- Build and improve hardened container images, image build pipelines, registry services, distribution capabilities, and adoption tooling.
- Use AI coding agents in development, code review, and operations while helping the team use them safely.
- Investigate issues across services, customer environments, support tickets, and go-to-market data.
- Maintain system health through observability, on-call participation, and corrective fixes.
- Write design notes, pull request descriptions, and status updates for a distributed remote team.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience building and operating software used by paying customers, preferably in a startup or hyper-growth environment.
- Strong fundamentals in a systems programming language, with Go preferred, plus API design, databases, caching, and cloud infrastructure on GCP or AWS.
- Working knowledge of containers, container registries, the OCI image format, and Kubernetes.
- Daily experience using agentic coding tools and the ability to explain their impact on output.
- Strong judgment on technical trade-offs, systems thinking, ambiguity management, written communication, and cross-team ownership.
- Excellent written English and experience working on a distributed, remote-first team.
- Preferred: software supply chain security experience with SBOMs, Sigstore signing, or SLSA.
- Preferred: familiarity with Wolfi, apko, and melange; Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code experience; and open-source authorship or contributions.
