Base Salary
$275k - $377k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and develop the platform infrastructure strategy and its outcomes.
- Design, specify, and directly build foundational platform systems at scale.
- Decide what platform work to prioritize and how it should be executed.
- Evaluate build-versus-buy options and advocate for appropriate technology choices.
- Create and maintain internal documentation and architectural decision records.
- Participate in architectural forums and make principled, transparent technical decisions.
Requirements
- Production experience designing and building platform systems at scale.
- Deep practical knowledge of distributed systems, including consistency and availability tradeoffs, failure cascades, backpressure, and graceful degradation.
- Operator-level Kubernetes expertise, including experience operating clusters under real load.
- Strong proficiency in Go and experience building and shipping production systems with it.
- Production multi-cloud experience making architectural decisions across AWS, GCP, and/or Azure.
- Experience defining requirements and driving technology choices across an engineering organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including design documentation and postmortems, and experience working in globally distributed teams.
- Experience with system-level storage primitives and choosing among relational stores, object stores, and other options is a bonus.
- Experience working on a SaaS/PaaS product across multiple cloud providers is a bonus.
- Familiarity with Apache Airflow or workflow orchestration systems is a bonus.
