Responsibilities

  • Automate high-value QA workflows across APIs, event-driven services, and user interfaces using maintainable regression, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Own and modernise CI/CD pipelines with automated tests, quality gates, containerisation, deployments, releases, and rollbacks.
  • Manage and evolve GCP infrastructure and Kubernetes environments across development, test, and production using infrastructure as code.
  • Improve service reliability through monitoring, alerting, operational runbooks, incident investigation, upgrades, resilience work, capacity planning, and cloud cost management.
  • Automate test-environment configuration and test-data preparation, including service simulation where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA colleagues, and platform teams to prioritise coverage, investigate failures, reduce flaky tests, and incorporate performance testing.
  • Use AI-assisted development and testing tools to accelerate automation and failure analysis while validating outputs and protecting sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Strong coding skills in Java, Python, or TypeScript and experience building automated API and UI tests with frameworks such as JUnit, pytest, or Playwright.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines with TeamCity, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions; packaging applications with Docker; and deploying to Kubernetes with tools such as Helm.
  • Practical experience managing GCP services and Google Kubernetes Engine, or comparable cloud platforms, with Linux, scripting, and Terraform-based infrastructure as code.
  • Understanding of cloud networking, identity and access management, secrets, and environment configuration.
  • Experience running cloud-hosted services, troubleshooting infrastructure and application failures, and using logs, metrics, and alerts to improve reliability.
  • Knowledge of patching, upgrades, capacity planning, recovery, and cost optimisation.
  • Experience with test design, test-data management, and testing distributed asynchronous systems, including distinguishing product defects from test or environment issues.
  • SQL and performance testing experience are desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants or agentic tools and sound judgement regarding their limitations, output quality, sensitive information, and responsible data use.
  • Collaborative working experience in Agile teams and the ability to convert recurring manual work into practical automation.
  • Financial markets experience is desirable but not essential.
