Responsibilities

  • Own the WordPress back end, including custom post types, taxonomies, custom fields, template logic, plugins, themes, gated content, personalization, forms, and campaign infrastructure.
  • Manage WordPress, PHP, themes, plugins, Elementor, custom widgets, upgrade processes, staging validation, performance, and markup overhead.
  • Maintain local, staging, and production environments with version control and documented deployment and rollback processes.
  • Own uptime, monitoring, alerting, caching, CDN, database and query optimization, image delivery, Core Web Vitals, hosting, DNS, SSL, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Own website security, including hardening, vulnerability scanning and patching, least-privilege access, MFA/SSO, and incident response.
  • Maintain privacy and accessibility compliance, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, consent mode, and WCAG 2.2 AA remediation.
  • Execute technical SEO, including crawlability, sitemaps, schema markup, SEMrush monitoring, backlink remediation, and Google Search Console diagnostics.
  • Own GA4, Google Tag Manager, HubSpot tracking, server-side tagging, attribution data, and marketing data quality.
  • Build and maintain WordPress, HubSpot, and marketing-system integrations through APIs and webhooks.
  • Document architecture, integrations, credential management, processes, and runbooks while establishing QA and pre-release standards.
  • Partner with the front-end developer and marketing stakeholders on technical scoping, estimates, risks, and tradeoffs.
  • Use approved AI tools for debugging, code review, log triage, test generation, and documentation while reviewing and securing all generated code.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional back-end web development experience, including substantial WordPress experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, web development, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Strong PHP and MySQL skills and fluency with WordPress APIs, including hooks, filters, the REST API, and WP-CLI.
  • Working JavaScript ability for debugging front-end and back-end interactions.
  • Experience with version-controlled staging-to-production workflows, disciplined change management, and rollback capability.
  • Technical Elementor experience, including performance and markup optimization.
  • Hands-on SEMrush experience with site audits, backlink auditing, disavows, and technical issue triage.
  • Demonstrated ownership of website security, vulnerability management, backups, and incident response.
  • Experience with managed WordPress hosting such as WP Engine, CDNs, caching layers, and DNS management.
  • Technical SEO experience with Google Search Console, crawl diagnostics, schema markup, redirects, and site migrations.
  • Hands-on GA4 and Google Tag Manager implementation and understanding of consent management and web privacy requirements.
  • API integration experience, ideally with HubSpot or a comparable marketing automation platform.
  • Familiarity with WCAG 2.2 AA and related technical compliance work.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools and the judgment to review, test, and secure generated code and dependencies.
  • Clear written communication, strong documentation habits, and repeatable processes.
  • Experience supporting a B2B SaaS marketing site, demand generation, or marketing/revenue operations is preferred.
