Staff Infrastructure Engineer - Data Streaming

Responsibilities
- Lead the design and operation of self-hosted Kafka and Redis services across Kubernetes clusters and multi-cloud environments.
- Build automated, self-service infrastructure that operates across AWS, GCP, and air-gapped on-premises environments.
- Manage data infrastructure supporting more than 5 PB per day of ingestion with low latency, high throughput, and cost efficiency.
- Consolidate and optimize multi-tenant Kafka clusters to improve cost, resilience, and operational efficiency.
- Automate Redis and Kafka lifecycles using GitOps practices, ArgoCD, and Terraform.
- Define standards for observability, high availability, backup, and disaster recovery for stateful Kubernetes workloads.
- Optimize performance, cost, and operational overhead with FinOps and engineering stakeholders.
- Own the platform experience for mission-critical open-source systems serving hundreds of product teams.
- Collaborate with teams in Europe and India using Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Terraform, and related orchestration tools.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of infrastructure or platform engineering experience operating stateful distributed systems at scale.
- Deep hands-on experience with self-hosted Kafka and Redis in Kubernetes, including performance tuning, scaling, partitioning, persistence, and operator-based lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes internals and production management of stateless and stateful workloads.
- Experience providing Database-as-a-Service or Messaging-as-a-Service for internal teams or external customers.
- Multi-cloud experience with strong expertise in at least one of AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and GitOps practices using Terraform, ArgoCD, or Pulumi.
- Familiarity with blue-green, canary, and rolling deployment strategies.
- Strong scripting or development skills in Python, Go, or similar languages.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and workflow automation using tools such as GitHub Actions or Argo Workflows.
- U.S. citizenship is required due to Federal Government contract requirements.
- FedRAMP staff may be subject to customer or third-party background checks up to and including Secret Clearance.
