Base Salary
$152k - $288k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deliver core components of next-generation engineering productivity platforms.
- Develop reliable userspace infrastructure for long-running workflows on bare-metal Linux hosts.
- Build state coordination over NFS, including atomicity, idempotency, deduplication, and partial-write recovery.
- Improve IBM LSF orchestration for job submission, tracking, retries, cancellation, log capture, fairness, and backpressure.
- Modernize legacy codebases incrementally, including migrations from Perl to Go with parity strategies, stage gates, and observability.
- Debug and improve performance and reliability across Linux and Kubernetes, including operational tooling.
- Collaborate with engineering users to convert ambiguous workflows into durable production systems.
- Analyze incidents, identify root causes, implement remediation and guardrails, and take ownership of unfamiliar codebases.
Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years developing and operating production software in Go and/or Python, ideally in large codebases.
- Strong knowledge of Linux processes, filesystems, permissions, synchronization, locks, concurrency, and debugging.
- Solid understanding of distributed-systems failure handling, retries, timeouts, backoff, idempotency, and operational rigor.
- Experience building long-runtime automation or services on shared compute clusters, batch schedulers, or build systems.
- Ability to translate high-level goals into safe delivery plans using instrumentation, staged rollouts, and measurable outcomes.
- Hands-on experience with NFS or coordination patterns on eventually consistent storage is a preferred qualification.
- Experience with batch job scheduling, shared compute fleets, build systems, incremental modernization, metadata-heavy systems, or I/O optimization is preferred.
