Responsibilities
- Lead implementation and tuning of observability platforms and telemetry pipelines.
- Analyze and improve alerting strategies to reduce noise and increase signal.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with architecture and SRE teams on observability strategy.
- Own observability stack components, including automation and scalability.
- Drive adoption of observability standards and best practices across teams.
- Mentor and train junior engineers.
- Support high-severity incidents, postmortems, and occasional on-call coverage.
- Maintain and resolve problems for observability and automation tools and services in production systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and at least five years of related experience, or an advanced degree with at least three years of experience, or equivalent related work experience.
- Advanced proficiency with observability platforms such as Splunk, Datadog, AppDynamics, or similar tools.
- Experience with OpenTelemetry and correlating metrics, logs, and traces.
- Strong scripting and automation skills with Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and other containerized environments and orchestration tools.
- Experience with Terraform and cloud-native monitoring in AWS or Azure.
- Strong incident management and root cause analysis capabilities.
- Excellent written and oral English communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
