Base Salary
$180k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise-scale artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions.
- Create predictive models, natural language processing applications, generative AI solutions, and advanced analytics platforms.
- Develop machine learning algorithms, model architectures, data pipelines, feature engineering processes, and model training environments.
- Support cloud-based AI deployments, model operationalization, validation, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure AI solutions meet security, privacy, compliance, governance, responsible AI, and ethical AI requirements.
- Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, cybersecurity specialists, architects, stakeholders, and government leadership.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend solutions for complex mission and business challenges.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, AI strategy, and thought leadership.
- Prepare technical documentation, architecture diagrams, implementation plans, executive briefings, program reviews, and technical working group materials.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in information technology security, data science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- At least five years of experience designing, developing, or deploying AI or machine learning systems in enterprise or government environments.
- Demonstrated experience delivering and operationalizing AI-enabled solutions in production for large organizations or federal agencies.
- Master’s degree in artificial intelligence, business administration, business management, cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, information assurance, information security, information resource management, or a related field.
- One or more of the following certifications: IAT Level III, IAM Level III, or IASAE Level III.
- Extensive experience with data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence projects, model development, data preparation, data quality, cleansing, transformation, and feature engineering.
- Experience with AI frameworks, machine learning libraries, cloud-based AI services, model governance, security considerations, and responsible AI principles.
- Ability to complete and maintain a Tier 4 / High Risk Background Investigation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
- A PhD in a relevant discipline may substitute for up to five years of required experience.
Benefits
- Full-time remote position supporting Eastern Time Zone operations.
- Routine onsite support is not anticipated, though meetings may occur at the Department of Veterans Affairs Central Office in Washington, DC.
- Availability is required during federal business days and core hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
- Approximately two program-related trips per year, totaling seven trips over the life of the contract.
