Base Salary
$136k - $170k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain tools for builds, tests, code review, and change merging for engineers and coding agents.
- Diagnose and resolve slow builds, unreliable tests, confusing errors, and test interference.
- Improve test performance and reliability through distributed execution, safe result reuse, and isolation.
- Make failures easier to understand by providing clear explanations and next steps.
- Improve the tools, instructions, and environments used by coding agents to write, test, and debug code.
- Build automated code reviews and checks while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Use developer surveys, feedback, and system data to identify problems and measure improvements.
- Share knowledge through documentation, code reviews, and working sessions.
Requirements
- About 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience or comparable hands-on experience.
- Strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills and experience in the JavaScript ecosystem, with server-side or browser-based experience.
- Hands-on experience with JavaScript unit testing and end-to-end testing using tools such as Jest, Vitest, and Playwright.
- Experience shipping and maintaining production software, including automated tests.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, independent execution, communication, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing skills.
- A careful, user-focused approach to improving developer tools and experiences.
- Preferred experience includes build systems or CI, test frameworks, faster or more reliable testing, coding agents, automated code review or testing, reliable and secure releases, and using logs, metrics, or traces.
