Responsibilities
- Build extremely large-scale platform products and services used by Roku engineers and consumers across millions of devices.
- Collaborate with Product and Design to take software from ideation through production deployment and support.
- Evaluate technologies, promote development best practices, and participate in code and design reviews.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Perform technical design, coding, testing, deployment, maintenance, and production troubleshooting.
- Use AI-powered development tools to accelerate coding workflows and improve engineering productivity.
Requirements
- Strong software development experience in Java; Python experience is a plus.
- Experience building large-scale cloud services, ideally using AWS.
- Experience selecting data stores and analyzing trade-offs.
- Experience with in-memory caching technologies such as Redis, Redis Cluster, or Memcached.
- Track record monitoring deployment quality and troubleshooting production systems.
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end web architecture from end-user device to data-center service.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Fluency with agentic engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, MCP servers, custom skills, or agentic frameworks, including the ability to describe measurable productivity improvements.
- Ability to direct AI agents, validate their output, and use them to ramp up on unfamiliar codebases.
