Base Salary
$200k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Profile and optimize critical paths across the backend to maintain fast API response times.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks in the database layer and async processing.
- Enhance logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting using the existing Grafana stack.
- Design infrastructure improvements for heavier workloads and more concurrent users.
- Improve build, test, and deployment pipelines for faster shipping.
- Own on-call processes, SLOs, and incident response playbooks.
- Collaborate with the CTO on backend architecture decisions and tradeoffs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with production systems at scale.
- Deep expertise in Python, particularly with FastAPI and async patterns.
- Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS.
- Experience dealing with scaling and performance challenges.
- Strong observability instincts with experience in monitoring and alerting systems.
- An ownership mentality and ability to propose and execute solutions.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
