Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision, strategy, and functional, logical, and physical architecture for AV Platform Software.
- Translate product, business, safety, cybersecurity, regulatory, and vehicle-integration goals into roadmaps, milestone scope, systems engineering deliverables, and KPIs.
- Decompose product requirements and features into systems and subsystems while owning system-level requirements, specifications, interfaces, assumptions, constraints, traceability, and system FMEAs.
- Resolve complex issues spanning multiple teams and systems, and track, document, and roll out system changes.
- Establish role boundaries and coverage across hardware, perception, autonomy, safety, cybersecurity, validation, manufacturing, service, suppliers, and vehicle architecture.
- Drive requirements standards, artifact expectations, verification and validation strategy, and architecture metrics across AV Platform Systems Engineering.
- Identify gaps in P0 topics and autonomous-vehicle escapes, communicate architecture risks, and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers, contribute to hiring and talent decisions, and share architectural methods and ideas across the engineering community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
- Master’s degree plus at least 8 years of experience, or at least 10 years of industry experience delivering large-scale solutions and leading technical direction.
- Recognized expertise in systems architecture or software systems engineering with company-wide or industry-wide reputation.
- Experience defining architecture and short- and long-term strategy for a vehicle platform, product line, or equivalent large-scale embedded platform.
- Experience with system requirements, interfaces, verification strategy, system decomposition, interface control, traceability, risk management, system change rollout, and validation planning on safety-critical platforms.
- Experience with ISO 26262, SOTIF, Automotive SPICE, or equivalent safety-critical development frameworks.
- Experience mentoring senior and staff-level engineers and participating in hiring, promotion, or role-assessment decisions.
- Preferred experience with AV Platform software and architecture involving operating systems, middleware, state management, cybersecurity, network communications, diagnostic infrastructure, sensing, or peripherals.
- Preferred experience with model-based systems engineering, DNG, Jira, Jira Align, or comparable lifecycle-management tools.
- Preferred experience carrying architecture through production vehicle launches, influencing company-wide standards, participating in industry forums, or capturing systems-architecture intellectual property.
