Responsibilities
- Define SLOs, error budgets, reliability indicators, and reporting practices with service owners.
- Set direction for metrics, logs, and alerting pipelines across data centers and public cloud environments.
- Participate in on-call rotations, serve as incident commander, lead blameless postmortems, and improve incident processes.
- Own the architecture and operation of messaging, caching, database, and continuous-integration platform services.
- Lead reliability improvements, including redundancy, capacity planning, upgrades, disaster recovery, and tested recovery procedures.
- Identify and automate sources of operational toil, including defining safe applications of AI to incident triage and remediation.
- Conduct production-readiness reviews, establish reliability expectations, mentor engineers, and represent reliability initiatives to partner teams and leadership.
Requirements
- Several years of software, platform, or site reliability engineering experience with end-to-end ownership of production systems and critical-service on-call experience.
- Strong software engineering proficiency in Python or Go and experience building operational tooling at platform scale.
- Hands-on experience operating distributed systems on Linux and Kubernetes using infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines across multi-cloud or hybrid environments.
- Experience operating stateful services such as databases, caches, or message brokers, with emphasis on high availability, disaster recovery, and automated failover.
- Demonstrated ability to define SLOs and error budgets, lead blameless postmortems, and drive technical direction across engineering teams.
