Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and data models
- Develop device communication layers connecting cloud services with access control panels, readers, and locks
- Implement device configuration, firmware update, and real-time event processing flows
- Develop web front-end features when required, including with Ember.js
- Participate in requirements gathering, deployment, production monitoring, and the full development lifecycle
- Work directly with access control hardware to develop, test, and debug device integrations
- Write unit and integration tests and validate features before release
- Monitor production performance and balance iteration speed with scalability, robustness, and maintainability
- Collaborate with product managers, hardware and device engineers, and software teams across time zones
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and pairing while sharing knowledge and taking increasing ownership
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- At least 2 years of professional software development experience
- Strong object-oriented programming skills
- Experience with backend services, HTTP APIs, and REST or similar interfaces
- Experience with database design and development using SQL
- Experience creating and maintaining unit tests
- Familiarity with integration testing and CI/CD
- Familiarity with a modern JavaScript framework such as Ember.js, Angular, or React
- Experience with C#, hardware, IoT, or device development is a plus
- Good communication skills
