Responsibilities

  • Analyze application behavior, system signals, and historical incidents to identify failure patterns and systemic reliability risks.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis during high-severity and cross-domain incidents, converting outcomes into measurable preventative improvements.
  • Design and improve observability strategies across logs, metrics, traces, and events, including dashboards, alerts, and monitors.
  • Lead automation efforts that reduce manual intervention, operational toil, feedback-loop time, and reliability risk.
  • Develop reusable tools, standards, documentation, guardrails, safer defaults, and self-healing capabilities.
  • Partner with application, platform, and infrastructure teams to drive shared reliability ownership and influence technical decisions.
  • Mentor engineers in proactive troubleshooting, systems thinking, and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Strong end-to-end systems reasoning, connecting application behavior with infrastructure performance and failure modes.
  • Expertise with observability, monitoring, and troubleshooting tools, with emphasis on signal quality and actionable insight.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation for operational reliability improvements.
  • Broad infrastructure knowledge spanning networking, Linux, databases, containers, and storage, with depth in at least one domain.
  • Strong data analysis and technical storytelling skills.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning concepts and their use in predictive and proactive operational problem solving.
  • Curiosity, ownership, and a prevention-oriented reliability mindset.
