Responsibilities
- Lead deep technical initiatives that improve functionality and reliability for Toast customers.
- Design scalable solutions, evaluate tradeoffs, and anticipate future needs.
- Participate in architectural discussions and influence the technical roadmap.
- Collaborate with Design, Product, and engineering teams to develop full-stack software applications.
- Advocate for coding best practices and mentor teammates through technical guidance.
- Use AI tools to improve development workflow, velocity, and engineering approaches.
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend experience with Java, Kotlin, or other object-oriented languages.
- Proven experience leading technically complex, multi-team projects.
- Proficiency with modern web standards and technologies such as React, TypeScript, REST, and GraphQL.
- Proficiency with traditional databases and alternative data stores.
- Experience with distributed systems, enterprise messaging systems, and/or microservices.
- Experience delivering reliable, high-quality production services.
- Strong cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics.
