Staff Engineer, Trading Automation and Backend Platforms

Responsibilities
- Define and own the long-term technical architecture for trading automation, risk, and post-trade platforms
- Translate ambiguous business problems into executable technical roadmaps
- Architect scalable event-driven systems optimized for throughput, data integrity, and reliability
- Raise engineering standards for system design, observability, reliability, and scalability
- Mentor senior engineers and guide tech leads across multiple teams
- Drive technical alignment across fragmented systems and decommission legacy systems
- Partner with trading, quant, risk, and operations teams on technical and business priorities
- Automate post-trade and middle-office workflows including allocations, settlements, and reconciliations
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with experience operating at Staff, Principal, or cross-team Lead level
- Ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholders and drive consensus across multiple teams
- Deep expertise building distributed, high-performance, and highly reliable backend systems
- Strong proficiency in one or more of Python, Go, C++, or Java
- Experience with event-driven architectures and data pipelines
- Understanding of modern infrastructure, observability, and cloud platforms
- Knowledge of financial workflows such as ETF creation/redemption, clearing, or custody is preferred
- Experience with financial reference data, symbology, or instrument modeling is preferred
- Familiarity with MiFID II, EMIR, SFTR, and data lineage requirements is preferred
- Background in financial services, trading, or market making is preferred
- Strong knowledge of the trading lifecycle, including order flow, execution, and post-trade or settlement flows, is preferred
