Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own production-grade backend services, pipelines, and infrastructure for LLM-driven and agentic AI experiences.
- Operate AI and ML systems at scale with attention to reliability, latency, cost, observability, and service-level objectives.
- Build orchestration, tool-use, evaluation, guardrail, and inference-serving capabilities for AI workloads.
- Partner with applied scientists to integrate models into production systems and customer-facing product workflows.
- Support large-scale data processing and intelligent financial workflows such as automated bank reconciliation and document capture.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response for production services.
- Set engineering standards, mentor engineers, and improve engineering capability across AI Products.
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, product managers, and analysts across a globally distributed organization.
Requirements
- Track record designing, shipping, and operating production-grade backend systems at scale.
- Experience building and operating production systems for LLM or agentic workloads, including orchestration, tool use, evaluation, guardrails, latency, and cost management.
- Strong system design fundamentals and excellent coding skills in Python or another language suited to web-scale services, such as Go, Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript.
- Experience with APIs, service design, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability, ideally with AWS.
- Experience running services in production, including on-call and incident response.
- Solid SQL skills and experience with large-scale data processing.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to business and technical audiences.
- Ability to coach engineers, set engineering standards, and mentor others.
- Preferred: experience operationalizing ML or LLM workloads, including inference serving and evaluation pipelines.
- Preferred: familiarity with MLflow, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and data orchestration tools.
- Preferred: distributed processing experience with Spark or Dask.
