Responsibilities
- Prepare Clio’s database infrastructure for future scale and reliability.
- Collaboratively define the database infrastructure roadmap to support business goals and application requirements.
- Investigate and solve performance problems in MySQL databases and other data stores.
- Optimize query performance.
- Collaborate with developers to scope and implement automation and processes that improve data-store reliability.
- Build, secure, and maintain infrastructure and critical services supporting Clio’s core applications.
- Improve observability, transparency, workflows, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Experience investigating and solving performance problems.
- Ability to optimize query performance.
- Willingness to develop and share MySQL expertise with the SRE team.
- Portfolio of successful projects and lessons learned from unsuccessful projects.
- Curiosity, continuous-learning mindset, and focus on addressing root causes.
- Drive to help others by shipping code.
- Preferred experience with migration tools such as pt-online-schema-change or gh-ost.
- Preferred experience managing hosts with Puppet.
- Preferred experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Preferred experience with Ruby or Golang.
- Preferred experience managing AWS resources with Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Preferred experience with Bash, ProxySQL, and the Percona toolkit.
