Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical roadmap for commerce, payments, and connected platforms across multiple engineering teams.
- Guide the design of catalog, pricing, checkout, order management, payment orchestration, and reconciliation systems.
- Design cloud-to-device workflows for constrained compute, intermittent connectivity, firmware compatibility, remote configuration, and fleet observability.
- Define event models, data contracts, and pipelines supporting analytics, personalization, operational intelligence, and traceability.
- Address offline operation, synchronization, retries, duplicate events, partial failures, and recovery across cloud and edge environments.
- Establish reliability, performance, automated validation, integration testing, and release-readiness standards.
- Deliver focused agentic AI use cases with evaluations, permission boundaries, human oversight, and auditability.
- Build prototypes, contribute production code, review critical designs, and resolve complex technical problems.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers, develop technical leaders, and drive cross-organizational technical decisions.
- Communicate tradeoffs among customer experience, delivery speed, reliability, cost, and maintainability.
Requirements
- Typically 12+ years of experience building and operating production software systems, including technical leadership across multiple teams or major platform initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to define architecture, lead adoption, and remain accountable for production outcomes.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, APIs, event-driven architectures, data modeling, and cloud platforms.
- Strong commerce or payments experience, including transaction lifecycles, consistency, idempotency, and reconciliation.
- Experience integrating software with connected devices, embedded platforms, or hardware-dependent systems.
- Strong programming skills in one or more of Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, C++, or TypeScript.
- Experience improving reliability through observability, performance engineering, automated testing, and incident analysis.
- Ability to influence without direct authority, navigate ambiguity, and communicate with engineering, product, operations, and business leaders.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience with payment gateways, processors, tokenization, fraud controls, and PCI DSS-scoped systems.
- Preferred experience with edge computing, offline transaction workflows, device telemetry, remote software updates, or large connected-device fleets.
- Preferred experience designing data platforms for analytics, experimentation, personalization, or machine learning.
- Preferred experience building LLM-powered applications or agentic workflows with tool integration, evaluation, and production monitoring.
- Experience in travel, aviation, mobility, retail, or other environments where digital services depend on physical infrastructure is preferred.
