Base Salary
$235k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Research and reverse-engineer website automation detection systems and challenge flows.
- Identify browser, device, network, and behavioral signals used to distinguish automated access from human traffic.
- Replicate signals in authorized test environments and harden scraping approaches.
- Build production automation, diagnostic, and monitoring tools for reliable web scraping.
- Measure scrape success rates, investigate regressions, and ship fixes.
- Collaborate with platform engineers to deploy improvements across the crawling fleet at scale.
Requirements
- 3+ years building browser automation, web infrastructure, or systems-level software.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python skills, with the ability to learn additional technologies as needed.
- Deep understanding of rendering, JavaScript engines, headless automation, CDP, Playwright, Puppeteer, and differences between automated and real browsers.
- Solid knowledge of HTTP, TLS, proxies, browser fingerprinting, and device fingerprinting.
- Ability to read and analyze minified or obfuscated JavaScript and determine what it checks.
- Ability to conduct deep technical research and turn findings into production fixes.
- Preferred experience with JavaScript and VM-based deobfuscation, TLS/HTTP2 fingerprinting including JA3/JA4, large browser or proxy fleets, or scraping, web data, security research, or automation companies.
