Responsibilities

  • Own delivery of an assigned programme or work area, including scope, plans, dependencies, quality, and production readiness.
  • Work with Trading, Operations, and Product to analyze workflows, clarify requirements, identify exceptions, and agree acceptance criteria.
  • Design and implement services for trade capture, inventory and position flows, returns, recalls, re-rates, lifecycle processing, and integrations.
  • Lead a platform renovation workstream involving phased migration, interface design, reconciliation, and compatibility with existing systems and controls.
  • Make engineering decisions within the agreed architecture and contribute to broader architecture discussions.
  • Guide engineers through implementation and code review, share domain knowledge, and coordinate work across the delivery area.
  • Manage and develop staff where assigned.
  • Maintain automated tests, secure coding, observability, release, and recovery practices; investigate production issues and deliver sustainable fixes.
  • Communicate solution options, improvements, dependencies, and delivery risks to product, technical, business, Trading, and Operations stakeholders.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience and strong hands-on server-side development in Java or Scala.
  • Experience with service design, integration, relational databases, SQL, and Unix/Linux.
  • A strong record of end-to-end software delivery and technical ownership of a substantial application, programme, or workstream.
  • Practical experience with distributed systems, messaging, data consistency, and diagnosing complex application behavior.
  • Experience working with business users on trading, financing, lifecycle, or comparable transaction-processing systems.
  • Experience delivering production changes safely through automated testing, code review, release planning, monitoring, and incident resolution.
  • Evidence of guiding engineers and coordinating delivery with global teams; formal people-management experience is helpful but not required.
  • Clear written and spoken English and the ability to communicate requirements, solution options, and delivery risks.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Securities Lending or Prime Brokerage experience, including trade capture, inventory, collateral, settlement interfaces, or lifecycle workflows, is valuable.
  • Experience with platform renovation or legacy migration programmes, data reconciliation, and phased adoption is valuable.
  • Experience with modern Java frameworks, event-driven services, streaming technologies, and cloud-ready engineering is valuable.
  • Experience using approved AI-assisted development tools responsibly, including independent validation, testing, code review, and protection of confidential information, is valuable.
