Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and operate secure, scalable, reliable, observable, and performant production systems.
- Enhance developer experience across internal services and product development workflows.
- Build automation to reduce operational toil and improve production-system operations.
- Monitor systems, respond to alerts, and implement automated alert handling.
- Create and maintain incident-response runbooks, write postmortems, and prevent recurring incidents.
- Triage infrastructure and platform issues, support Arista software engineers during triage, and coordinate with third-party vendors.
- Design and implement solutions to resolve infrastructure bottlenecks and scale systems.
- Plan and communicate production maintenance windows and deploy new systems in staged increments.
- Research open-source systems and infrastructure best practices to improve troubleshooting and resolution.
Requirements
- BSc in Computer Science or Engineering, MS in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 2 to 6 years of relevant experience operating software systems and infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Go, Python, or shell scripting sufficient to implement medium-complexity automation workflows.
- Linux or UNIX administration and debugging experience.
- Hands-on experience operating infrastructure or complex software applications at scale.
- Experience with server provisioning, particularly from storage and networking perspectives.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code.
- Strong problem-solving and software-troubleshooting skills.
- Preferred experience managing databases such as MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
- Preferred experience with Docker, virtualization technologies, monitoring stacks, Elasticsearch clusters, Artifactory, CI/CD systems, version-control systems, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, large Java applications, or storage infrastructure such as NAS, SAN, or Ceph.
