Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, operate, and scale secure, reliable, observable, and fault-tolerant production systems.
- Improve developer experience across internal services and automate operational toil.
- Monitor systems, respond to incidents, improve alerts, and implement automated alert handling.
- Create incident-response runbooks, write postmortems, and develop solutions to prevent recurring incidents.
- Triage infrastructure and platform issues, support Arista software engineers, and coordinate with third-party vendors.
- Identify workflow bottlenecks for product development teams and implement infrastructure solutions.
- Plan production maintenance windows and deploy new systems in a staged manner.
- Research and apply infrastructure and platform best practices, including performance and fault-tolerance improvements.
Requirements
- BSc in Computer Science or Engineering, MS in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 2–6 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of Go, Python, or shell scripting sufficient to implement medium-complexity automation workflows.
- Linux or UNIX administration and debugging knowledge.
- Hands-on experience operating infrastructure or complex software systems at scale.
- Experience with server provisioning, especially from storage and networking perspectives.
- Strong problem-solving and software-troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code.
- Preferred experience managing databases such as MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
- Preferred experience with Docker, virtualization technologies, monitoring stacks, Elasticsearch clusters, Artifactory, CI/CD systems, version-control systems, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, large Java applications, or storage infrastructure.
