Responsibilities
- Design and develop processing pipelines for EO/IR, signal, and image data across space and ground systems.
- Interface with imaging and data sensors to collect and analyze data.
- Develop onboard software for next-generation satellites.
- Develop, evaluate, and integrate detection and tracking algorithms and third-party processing IP.
- Write thorough tests and documentation and participate in software design and code reviews.
- Collaborate with electrical, digital design, and operations teams on features and system architecture.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Identify shortcomings in existing software components and direct future development efforts.
Requirements
- 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Strong software design and development skills, including algorithms, testing, and debugging.
- Proficiency in C/C++, including embedded concurrency, memory-mapped peripherals, and hardware interfaces such as SPI, I2C, and CAN.
- Experience developing EO/IR, signal, or image processing algorithms.
- Experience interfacing with imaging and data sensors to collect and analyze data.
- Experience with embedded operating systems and build systems, including OpenEmbedded/Yocto and FreeRTOS.
- Ability to use AI-assisted engineering and development tools for code development and testing.
- Excellent communication skills and effective use of Git and associated CI/CD features.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, aerospace software experience, detection and tracking algorithm experience, ML/AI processing-pipeline experience, FPGA or GPU processing hardware experience, and sensor data collection and analysis experience.
