Responsibilities
- Prepare technical design specifications and written knowledge-transfer materials.
- Review functional requirements, analysis, and design documents and provide feedback.
- Implement, test, maintain, support, and enhance software based on technical specifications.
- Lead architecture, design, implementation, and code reviews for robust, scalable web services.
- Improve system quality by identifying issues and patterns and developing standard operating procedures.
- Maintain existing codebases, review code changes, and investigate relevant new technologies.
- Lead and mentor engineering work, provide technical direction, and support less experienced developers.
- Collaborate with colleagues, product stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and customer support to resolve technical issues.
- Work independently, make technical decisions, and participate in additional projects as needed.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience developing systems or software for large business environments.
- At least 10 years of experience with Java Enterprise Edition and strong Java full-stack development skills.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture principles, with experience implementing them in Java or another language.
- Strong experience leading architecture, design, and implementation of robust, highly scalable web services.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure SaaS infrastructure, DevOps technologies, and extensive debugging.
- Experience with distributed systems, cloud-based big-data systems, mission-critical solutions, and low-latency solutions; the posting also cites 5+ years developing and debugging distributed systems and working with cloud big-data systems.
- Understanding of unit, test-driven, functional, and performance testing.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database systems and data architecture.
- Experience building front ends with React is preferred.
- Experience integrating with event buses such as Pulsar and cloud-based big-data solutions such as Snowflake is preferred.
- Working knowledge of software security-enhancing tools and practices, shell scripting, and industry-leading big-data and machine-learning technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation, facilitation, decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
