Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate Proactive Scaling services that generate capacity overrides from forecasts, scaling formulas, and the Capacity Calculator.
- Build and improve automated pipelines that calculate, schedule, and apply capacity recommendations for daily scaling and peak events across supported regions.
- Integrate Proactive Scaling with the Capacity Calculator, Fleet Management Console, and CloudTune Capacity Service.
- Design systems using MWS metrics, CloudTune forecasts, and Apollo attributes for eligible EC2-based services.
- Define and monitor risk factors, efficiency metrics, and guardrails to improve automation coverage.
- Lead technical design reviews, write design documents, and influence the architecture of Proactive Scaling.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and operational best practices.
- Handle monitoring, alarming, on-call duties, and incident response for Proactive Scaling services.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Programming experience in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.
- Preferred: at least 3 years of full software development lifecycle experience covering coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
