Responsibilities
- Rapidly develop scalable, flexible, and high-performance systems.
- Develop, operate, and improve services and internal systems for the Payments department.
- Own the team’s microservices and services.
- Solve system issues and prioritize work based on customer impact.
- Make technical decisions independently within the team.
- Advocate for development best practices.
- Act as an intermediary for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Understand business processes and support customers and partners across travel-related products.
- Contribute to interviewing, onboarding, and other recruitment efforts.
Requirements
- At least five years of software development experience.
- Experience using two or more server-side programming languages, including required Java experience.
- Experience with microservices.
- Experience building highly scalable distributed systems and batch-processing pipelines with a focus on data integrity.
- Experience with multiple RDBMS or data systems, including MySQL, Hadoop, and Cassandra.
- Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing paradigms.
- Experience defining and upholding SLOs and KPIs and participating in architecture reviews.
- Experience with security challenges involving authentication and authorization.
- Experience with big-data challenges.
- Experience working on products with a large customer base and company-wide impact.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Payments compliance experience and prior payments or FinTech experience are preferred.
