Responsibilities
- Design, build, migrate, and operate scalable services and components for Mailroom, Threat Portal, and Managed Email Incident Response and Remediation products.
- Use agentic AI development tools for design, implementation, testing, refactoring, and documentation while ensuring all merged code is understandable and high quality.
- Own testing, code reviews, observability, rollback paths, reliability, performance, and security considerations.
- Lead root cause analysis for multi-system production incidents and implement preventive improvements.
- Contribute to technical design reviews, identify systemic quality issues, and support performance and security improvements.
- Monitor resource usage and identify cost savings without compromising performance or reliability.
- Support less experienced engineers through code review, pairing, and shared context.
- Participate in backlog refinement, planning, design reviews, code reviews, demos, and retrospectives.
Requirements
- Around four or more years of experience building production software, including ownership of components or services beyond their initial release.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, API design, testing, reliability, performance, and security.
- Demonstrated day-to-day experience using agentic coding tools and the judgment to identify hallucinated APIs, incorrect logic, and security or performance regressions.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language and the ability to learn additional languages quickly.
- Experience with relational data modeling and query performance, PostgreSQL or similar databases, Redis or similar caching systems, Elasticsearch or similar search engines, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and foundational AWS services.
- Ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently through ambiguity, follow work into production, and collaborate across distributed teams.
- Preferred experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, React, Java, cybersecurity, email security, or LLM-backed application features such as retrieval, tool use, or evaluation harnesses.
