Responsibilities
- Collaborate with native mobile engineers to design, build, and evolve the Android platform.
- Migrate the mobile app from React Native to native Android using Kotlin and strong architectural foundations.
- Define native Android best practices and support React Native engineers cross-training into native development.
- Improve app performance, robustness, quality, and user experience by addressing bottlenecks, technical debt, and defects.
- Work with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver features using native Android capabilities.
- Improve mobile engineering processes, tooling, automation, and standards across teams.
Requirements
- Experience building and shipping production Android applications in Kotlin, including publishing apps to the Google Play Store.
- Strong understanding of Android frameworks, platform APIs, and native app development best practices.
- Experience with modern, high-engagement mobile applications focused on performance, reliability, and user experience.
- A track record of improving engineering quality through thoughtful design, testing, and maintainable code.
- Experience or interest in creating broad impact through improved processes, tooling, and automation.
- Experience applying mobile security best practices in production Android applications is a bonus.
- Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines, including build, test, and release automation, is a bonus.
- Experience collaborating with iOS/Swift and/or React Native engineers is a bonus.
