Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design and build a messaging platform supporting triggering, routing, templating, retries, deduplication, rate limiting, scheduling, and delivery tracking.
- Build consent and preference systems with per-channel provenance, opt-out propagation, quiet hours, and non-overridable suppression rules.
- Own messaging deliverability, including sender registration, authentication standards, bounce handling, complaint handling, and reputation management.
- Partner with data and machine-learning engineers on event-triggered engagement, frequency management, and holdout design.
- Provide experimentation hooks for testing message timing, content, and channel without modifying the core platform.
- Establish engineering standards, audit trails, and access controls for a system with regulatory obligations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience, including ownership of a messaging, notification, or lifecycle platform.
- Experience operating a messaging platform at meaningful scale, sending millions of messages per month across at least two of email, SMS, and push.
- Experience designing event-driven systems with explicit idempotency, retry, and deduplication guarantees, including on-call ownership.
- Experience shipping systems within consent or privacy regimes such as TCPA, CAN-SPAM, GDPR, or CCPA.
- Hands-on production experience with a major messaging provider or platform such as Twilio, SendGrid, Braze, Iterable, Customer.io, or an equivalent in-house platform.
- Strong proficiency in at least one of Go, Java, Kotlin, Python, or TypeScript, plus SQL.
- Preferred experience with lifecycle or growth engineering on a large consumer product.
- Preferred experience integrating with CRMs, call centers, or partner systems through webhook or real-time APIs.
- Preferred experience troubleshooting deliverability at scale, including sender registration and domain reputation recovery.
- Preferred experience building experimentation infrastructure.
Benefits
- Full-time position with an annual base salary range of $150,000–$280,000 USD.
