Base Salary
$160k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and maintain production-ready Yocto/OpenEmbedded distributions for the Ezurio Nitrogen95 SMARC platform and NXP i.MX 95 family.
- Design and implement C/C++ and Python system applications, background services, and IPC mechanisms on a custom Linux stack.
- Configure board support packages, device trees, drivers, and peripheral interfaces in partnership with BSP vendors and electrical hardware teams.
- Drive kernel tuning, boot-time optimization, resource management, and hardware acceleration using the NXP i.MX 95.
- Translate system requirements into reliable firmware designs while collaborating with Systems, Hardware, Quality, and Product Management.
- Own development, testing, and documentation of embedded firmware projects.
Requirements
- An MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field is required; a graduate degree is preferred.
- 6–10+ years of experience in Embedded Linux development, Yocto layer management, and system-level firmware architecture.
- Deep expertise creating and customizing Yocto layers, BitBake recipes, device tree modifications, and custom image configurations.
- Experience integrating WiFi/Bluetooth modules, IoT communications, and SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and Ethernet buses.
- Proficiency in C, C++, and Python for system-level programming and script automation.
- Experience with embedded GUI frameworks such as Qt or LVGL, or with DSP and data-pipeline integration, is a strong plus.
- Experience designing and implementing sensor-based systems is preferred.
- Experience reading hardware schematics and working close to hardware; PCB design or signal-routing familiarity is a strong plus.
- Background in MedTech, medical devices, or safety-critical systems subject to strict quality and regulatory standards is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, detail-oriented, collaborative working style.
