Base Salary
$170k - $205k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for major areas of the autonomy stack and own multi-quarter roadmaps.
- Lead large, ambiguous projects from scope to execution and fleet rollout.
- Make key decisions on build-vs-borrow and learn-vs-classical approaches.
- Collaborate with engineering managers and product teams on staffing and risk management.
- Represent the team in external engagements such as publications and conferences.
- Architect and contribute to systems spanning learned perception and motion planning.
- Drive the adoption of modern learning approaches and integrate them with classical components.
- Build and improve data engines and evaluation infrastructure for training data.
- Lead performance and deployment work on embedded compute systems.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design and code reviews.
- Shape interview processes and onboard new hires effectively.
- Champion engineering practices that enhance productivity across the organization.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of industry experience in embodied AI, with some time in a senior or lead role.
- Deep expertise in machine learning, SLAM, robotic perception, and motion planning.
- Strong fluency in C++ and Python in a Linux environment.
- Demonstrated history of taking research ideas into production at scale.
- Hands-on expertise with PyTorch or JAX and modern training infrastructure.
- Extensive experience designing robotic systems with ROS 2 or comparable middleware.
- Strong record of shipping ML-driven features to production hardware.
- Excellent systems and architectural judgment.
- Modern software engineering fundamentals including CI/CD and code review culture.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
