Responsibilities

  • Design, build, integrate, and scale Aalyria’s centralized observability platform for metrics, logging, and distributed tracing.
  • Define and manage SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets for core products and production services.
  • Partner with software engineers to implement observability best practices, instrumentation, templates, documentation, and tooling.
  • Automate deployment, scaling, and management of the observability stack using Infrastructure as Code and GitOps.
  • Provide deep visibility into Kubernetes clusters and GCP and AWS environments in partnership with the core infrastructure team.
  • Lead monitoring, alerting, incident response, and proactive reliability practices, including blameless post-mortems.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in an SRE or platform engineering role focused on observability for large-scale distributed compute or network systems.
  • Deep hands-on experience building, scaling, and managing observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK, OpenTelemetry, Tempo, Jaeger, and Honeycomb.
  • Production-level experience with Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and GitOps principles, including tools such as Terraform and ArgoCD.
  • Proficiency in a systems programming language, with a strong preference for Go and Python for debugging and tooling.
  • Demonstrable experience defining and managing SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets for highly available distributed systems.
  • Preferred experience operating multi-cloud environments using GCP and AWS.
  • Preferred hands-on experience with GitLab CI for CI/CD pipelines.
  • Preferred working knowledge of Istio or Linkerd service mesh technologies.
  • Preferred familiarity with instrumenting applications written in Go and C++.
  • Preferred experience with JVM observability for Java-based applications.
  • An active Secret clearance or higher is preferred.
