Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
- Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology, and business issues.
- Create and monitor metrics, escalate issues, and support operations, availability, and on-call efforts.
- Improve code review and design standards and advocate for engineering quality through writing and tech talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Experience using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Track record developing highly available distributed systems using technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with simple, extensible designs.
- Ability to make significant changes safely in a large codebase using appropriate tools and practices.
- Strong ownership of professional growth and openness to feedback.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
