Responsibilities
- Develop a data and cloud migration framework for moving on-premise software assets to Snowflake and Azure.
- Assist with migrating data, databases, stored procedures, Python analytics scripts, and software assets to cloud platforms.
- Maintain and improve software solutions and infrastructure.
- Develop new solutions and enhance existing solutions across medium-to-large software systems.
- Establish software and data engineering best practices for deploying and managing assets on data and cloud platforms.
- Design, develop, test, document, and launch assigned projects while participating in code reviews and team planning.
- Gather and validate requirements, track status, estimate work, and communicate project progress.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, managers, and capital-markets business users to address user needs.
- Investigate technologies and recommend appropriate adoption.
- Maintain technical knowledge and uphold quality standards.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience with Python and SQL.
- Experience with Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, stored procedures, Kubernetes, Docker, Azure, AKS, Git, and Jenkins.
- Experience migrating data and data-engineering assets to cloud platforms, including databases, stored procedures, and Python analytical scripts.
- Experience engineering medium-to-large software systems and building frontend/backend applications at scale.
- Proficiency with relational databases.
- Experience with Agile development, Test-Driven Development, Continuous Delivery, and Scrum.
- Financial-industry experience is required.
- Strong communication skills with systems professionals and capital-markets business users.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills and proficiency in English.
- Experience with C# is preferred.
- Experience with React, Flask, FastAPI, Django, Airflow or Astronomer, dbt, SSIS, and Power BI is preferred.
- Experience migrating web applications to Azure or AKS is preferred.
- Experience with Bloomberg, Refinitiv, S&P Xpressfeed, or other financial data providers is preferred.
- Understanding of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor is preferred.
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering or Computer Science is preferred; completion of the Canadian Securities Course or CFA candidacy is an asset.
