Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components for hyper-scale workloads.
- Define scalability, availability, durability, correctness, and operational-readiness requirements for owned systems.
- Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, partition handling, load shedding, throttling, and rate limiting.
- Build performance testing, fault-injection, brownout, replication, synchronization, telemetry, dashboards, and alerting solutions.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, participate in operational support rotations, and guide incident response and root-cause investigations.
- Implement security controls, encryption, access controls, remediation plans, and cloud infrastructure compliance documentation.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code and automation for cloud infrastructure patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Coordinate moderately complex projects, provide technical oversight, mentor team members, contribute to process improvement, and participate in candidate interviews.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead development and architect scalable distributed systems and high-throughput data-processing components.
- Expertise designing fault-tolerant, durable, highly available systems with replication, failover, partition handling, and in-service upgrades.
- Experience with performance testing, telemetry, monitoring, alerting, fault injection, brownouts, and operational troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of security controls, encryption, access controls, remediation, compliance, and cloud infrastructure operations.
- Experience developing automation and Infrastructure as Code for safe infrastructure and application changes.
- Ability to coordinate complex technical work, collaborate with stakeholders, mentor engineers, and provide technical oversight.
