Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the overall software architecture for digital solutions in the Essenz ecosystem.
- Establish architectural principles, standards, design patterns, governance processes, and long-term technology roadmaps.
- Design scalable mobile, on-premises, and cloud solutions, including APIs, data flows, system interfaces, and integration patterns.
- Define interoperability architecture for exchanging device and clinical data with hospital systems such as EMR/EHR and LIS.
- Provide architectural guidance and mentorship, lead architecture reviews, and ensure technical consistency across development teams.
- Ensure architecture supports regulatory, quality, cybersecurity, traceability, reliability, and maintainability requirements.
- Maintain audit-ready architecture documentation, including ADRs, C4 diagrams, and arc42 documentation.
- Review technical deliverables and architecture proposals from external development partners and suppliers.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Systems Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and engineering leadership.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of software engineering experience with significant experience in software architecture roles.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience; a master's degree is preferred.
- Proven experience designing complex software platforms and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, web technologies, and software integration patterns.
- Experience designing hybrid on-premises/cloud systems deployed into customer-controlled networks.
- Experience with API design, microservices, data management, and modern software frameworks.
- Experience working with external development partners and geographically distributed teams.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.
- Experience in medical devices, healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries is preferred.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, secure software architecture, software lifecycle processes, and IEC 62304 is desirable.
