Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve scalable Java and Spring Boot backend services across multiple product and platform areas.
- Lead cross-team technical initiatives from idea through production while remaining hands-on in code.
- Develop and operate REST and gRPC APIs, event-driven flows, and customer-facing backend solutions.
- Improve architecture, observability, performance, security, testing, reliability, and developer experience.
- Own services in production using metrics, alerting, CI/CD, and Kubernetes-based operations.
- Collaborate with product managers and backend, web, and mobile teams on end-to-end delivery.
- Mentor engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Use AI-assisted development tools pragmatically and help establish sensible engineering practices around them.
Requirements
- Deep experience building backend services with modern Java and Spring Boot at Staff-level scope.
- Experience designing microservices and event-driven architectures for reliability, scalability, idempotency, and maintainability.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, JPA/Hibernate, Flyway, Redis, and Kafka.
- Comfort operating production services and improving observability, metrics, alerting, CI/CD, and Kubernetes-based operations.
- Collaborative, product-minded approach with willingness to work across the stack when needed.
- Comfort using AI-assisted tools in reviewable, reliable, and useful day-to-day engineering workflows.
- Experience with React, TypeScript, micro-frontends, and end-to-end feature delivery is a plus.
