Responsibilities
- Own multiple features in recommendation and ranking services using Go and Python from discovery through release and operation.
- Build low-latency serving paths and model-serving integrations for global consumer applications.
- Drive architecture decisions, assess system lifecycles, address deficiencies, write RFCs and ADRs, and build technical consensus.
- Break complex initiatives into incremental milestones and parallelize work where appropriate.
- Improve observability, scalability, cost efficiency, security, and code quality; resolve vulnerabilities within SLA and manage on-call incidents.
- Mentor less experienced engineers, participate in hiring, and collaborate with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and product managers.
- Recommend and evangelize coding standards, frameworks, tools, and effective agent-assisted engineering practices.
Requirements
- Strong backend engineering experience in Go and/or Python building and owning production services, including stateful APIs, gRPC/REST integrations, and high-throughput request paths.
- Experience with event streaming using Kafka, Flink, or Pub/Sub; infrastructure as code such as Terraform; and production operations on AWS and/or GCP and Kubernetes.
- Experience establishing engineering best practices and tools, including evaluating and reviewing agent-assisted development output.
- Deep knowledge of the frameworks and tools used by the team, applied to critical decisions and problem solving.
- Demonstrated ability to make and communicate architectural trade-offs, work autonomously on ambiguous problems, and prioritize by business impact.
- Mentoring mindset and excellent written and verbal English.
- Experience in recommendations, ranking, search, personalization, relevance engineering, ML serving, feature stores, vector databases, real-time feature pipelines, A/B testing, or experimentation platforms is preferred.
