Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Embed with customer engineering teams to design, build, ship, and operate solutions from prototype through production rollout.
- Deliver technical artifacts including custom MCP servers, Docker Sandbox integrations, Docker Compose definitions, multi-agent harnesses, model-backed applications, hardened image migrations, and customer-enabling tools.
- Integrate Docker’s AI platform with identity providers, secrets management, private and air-gapped registries, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling.
- Own engagement delivery by scoping work, sequencing execution, making trade-offs, removing blockers, and contributing directly to code.
- Translate security, compliance, platform, data sovereignty, and user-experience requirements into safe and governable agentic-AI deployment plans.
- Partner with security and platform teams on architecture reviews, threat modeling, change control, quality standards, and performance thresholds.
- Support Solutions Architecture and field teams during proofs of concept, escalations, and expansion conversations.
- Feed implementation learnings into reference architectures, SOW templates, success patterns, products, and services.
- Provide data-driven customer feedback to Product and Engineering and influence the product roadmap.
- Define the FDE engagement model, delivery standards, and quality bar across customers, regions, and delivery partners.
- Mentor and lead Forward Deployed Engineers, participate in hiring loops, and act as the senior technical escalation point.
- Maintain current knowledge of LLMs, APIs, MCP, coding agents, evaluation approaches, deployment patterns, and agentic-AI performance standards.
- Participate in an on-call rotation outside standard business hours when needed.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in a customer-facing technical role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Professional Services Engineer, or consulting-oriented Software Engineer.
- Technical leadership across multiple engagements, teams, or domains, including setting delivery standards, defining repeatable patterns, and influencing product direction.
- Expert production coding skills in Go, Python, or TypeScript and experience shipping and operating dependable software and leading technical design reviews.
- Deep hands-on Docker expertise covering Dockerfiles, multi-stage builds, Docker Compose, image and registry operations, container networking and storage, and container security fundamentals.
- Production experience building with LLMs and agents, including tool use, function calling, MCP server and client implementation, prompt and context engineering, and agent evaluation.
- Working knowledge of software supply chain security, including SBOMs, image signing and attestation, vulnerability management, hardened base images, and secure CI/CD.
- Experience integrating enterprise systems including Okta, Entra ID, LDAP/Active Directory, OIDC, SAML, secrets managers, Kubernetes, and at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Ability to scope and deliver complex work in ambiguous customer environments and make sound scope, speed, and quality trade-offs.
- Strong communication skills with engineering, security, platform, and executive stakeholders, plus technical mentorship and influence without authority.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites, estimated at up to 50%.
- Preferred experience includes Docker Hardened Images, Docker Scout, MCP Gateway, MCP Toolkit, Docker Sandboxes, Docker Model Runner, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, air-gapped or regulated environments, open source contributions, and founding or scaling an FDE or Professional Services practice.
