Base Salary

$134k - $224k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and evolution of scalable backend services and APIs.
  • Drive technical strategy and influence engineering direction across multiple teams.
  • Define standards for API design, distributed systems, observability, security, and reliability.
  • Establish reusable frameworks, shared services, and engineering patterns.
  • Lead incident reviews, reliability initiatives, performance optimization, and technical debt reduction.
  • Partner with product, architecture, platform, leadership, and business teams on complex problems.
  • Lead architecture and design reviews, mentor engineers, and cultivate technical leadership.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and guide strategic adoption decisions.
  • Contribute hands-on to complex technical solutions while balancing strategic responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science or a similar field.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable software systems in production.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and backend API development.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices, API-first architectures, event-driven systems, Kafka, asynchronous messaging, and distributed data processing.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Redis, Kubernetes, cloud-native architectures, containers, and infrastructure automation.
  • Proven experience leading architecture and design for complex enterprise systems and defining technical roadmaps across teams.
  • Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog and with reliability engineering, SLOs, incident management, and production support.
  • Experience improving the performance, scalability, availability, and resiliency of critical systems.
  • Strong communication, cross-functional leadership, stakeholder influence, analytical, and mentoring abilities.
