Responsibilities
- Develop real-time embedded software and firmware for next-generation controller products.
- Participate in all phases of development from product definition through production release.
- Design, build, test, integrate, and validate embedded software and industrial communication protocol stacks.
- Debug and analyze performance of complex real-time systems using debugging, tracing, memory-analysis, and hardware tools.
- Perform embedded board bring-up, hardware-software integration, and system troubleshooting.
- Work with hardware, firmware, systems, software test, and product engineering teams to resolve system-level issues.
- Use pair programming, code reviews, continuous integration, and version control practices.
- Estimate development work, identify technical challenges, propose solutions, and drive implementation to completion.
- Develop domain expertise in control system platforms and support product quality and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 4–6 years of experience in embedded software or firmware development on Intel x86 and ARM-based processors or controllers.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ for high-performance, reliable, and safety-critical embedded software.
- Experience designing and developing multithreaded and multiprocess real-time software under VxWorks or another commercial RTOS.
- Experience with Wind River Workbench, GDB, JTAG debuggers, trace tools, memory analyzers, and RTOS debugging utilities.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols including Modbus TCP/RTU, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, and DNP3.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, and cybersecurity considerations for industrial control systems.
- Experience with board bring-up, hardware-software integration, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and JTAG or boundary-scan tools.
- Ability to interpret hardware schematics, processor datasheets, memory maps, and peripheral specifications.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum, continuous integration and deployment, and Git or SVN version control systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, written communication, verbal communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience with programmable logic controllers, Xilinx Ultrascale SoC firmware development, and Python scripting.
